
Through Their Eyes, A Vision of Those In Need
Mission - To reach out to our community and create awareness about the hunger crisis, and many needs our world is facing. We will educate the community on health and nutrition in their everyday lives - Uniting us as a culturally diverse community in recognition of hunger, homelessness, and malnutrition as an international concern, while creating an immediate focus locally.
Event Details
Date: Saturday November 21st 2009Theme: Through Their Eye's, A Vision of Those In Need will feature homeless students who have been given cameras to shoot what's important to them and give a sense of what their everyday life is like. These shots will then be on display during the event to be auctioned later in the evening. The dress for the evening will be Black Tie.
Location: Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines / 10950 North Torrey Pines RD.
Cost: $150.00 per person / $1500.00 per table
Attendance: 600-800 people

6pm-7:30pm Event begins with a heavy hors d' oeuvres reception including local Chef and Restaurant action stations / Silent auction / In a gallery setting, this year's event will allow guests a glimpse into the lives of homeless children, "Through Their Eyes."7:30pm-8pm Guests to be seated, and served plated salad / Guest Speakers / Documentary Video
830pm-9pm Plated Entree Dinner / Live Auction
9pm-10pm World class dessert station and cordial wine pairings
10pm-12am Dancing and Cocktails
Event descriptions
Local Chef and Restaurant Stations: Local Chefs and Restaurants will be paired with a Local Wine Vineyard. Each Chef and Restaurant will create their own one-two item menu amuse-buche size to feature themed "Nouveau Street Food" paired with the Local Wines (that will be assigned by the HAH BOD). Chefs and Restaurants will cook and prepare in front of guests at the Hunger at Home Gala event. The menus will be presented to the Hunger at Home BOD by November 1st 2009. Hunger at Home will set up each chef's station with appropriate décor however each Chef or Restaurant will need to supply their own ingredients and service items. (Glasses will be provided for the Wine tastings).
Recipients: All Proceeds raised will go to the following charities and Non-Profit organizations that help feed and educate the Hungry in San Diego, CA: Network for a Healthy California; 211 San Diego; San Diego Rescue Mission; Feeding America San Diego; Embrace, and Monarch School.
